Super Bowl Saturday!

No mistake. Just thought I would get a post up about our Super Bowl "party" in time to give any other reader some inspiration. I wish now I had done a Super Bowl Party Favorites yesterday and saved my fitness edition for another day, but ah well.

I love a theme, but for the life of me I couldn't come up with anything that I really wanted to do. I thought about a Starbucks theme (since they're based in Seattle), but people can only handle so much coffee flavored food. Then I thought about doing a Patriotic theme, but I feel like there's enough of that between Memorial Day and 4th of July. Steve is a master brisket-maker, and he wanted to do one for Sunday anyway, so I stole Teri's Super Bowl theme and we're doing Tex-Mex. Is it weird that I almost always want Mexican food with football? I have a Taco Dip that I make for just about every event we have, so that plus a brisket sort of lent itself to a Tex-Mex theme.

Also, I really couldn't care less about the Seahawks or the Patriots, so...

#blah

They eat Tex-Mex in Arizona, right?

Good grief. I could write a dissertation on the most ridiculous stuff.

The Menu:

Steve's Famous Brisket
with Andrea's Famous Brisket Sauce

Touchdown Taco Dip

I made two since they were fairly small.

Thinking of making some kind of signature cocktail, too, but that's probably going a little overboard. Probably just beers and Diet Cokes.

I will update this post with pictures once everything is ready. One more sleep until the Super Bowl!

Friday Favorites!

Welcome to Friday Saturday Favorites! I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci again for some of my current faves.

Hope everyone had a great week!!

1)
My first Friday favorite is why this post is going up on Saturday: Friday was a total family day! Steve was off, and Teagan had a bye week from football, so we spent the whole day together! It was so nice. Very low key day, and that's exactly what we all needed. It seems like this time of year just gets so dadburn hectic, so these easy days are decadent!

2)Halloween decorations
I had planned to wait until October to put out our Halloween decorations, but the bug bit me this week, and now I'm pretty much out of control. I told Steve that I can't be held responsible for the damage I do to our checkbook when it comes to Halloween stuff. Either he locks me up, or he goes with me wherever I go and reins me in. So far, I guess he's just putting up with it!
Here's what all I've done so far, but I would sure like to do a bunch more!

The newest (and yet unnamed) member of our family!
I told the girls to make a scary face. Evidently Caroline didn't want to participate.

And then I added a few decorations to that area. Pardon the mess on the floor.
I am thinking about spraying this guy (girl?) with clear glitter. You can never have too much glitter, right?

Here's the other half of that credenza.
Owl cloche from Hobby Lobby, Haunted House cloche from Target, Poison bottles from Michaels last year, but they have similar ones this year. Stack of books and burlap from Hobby Lobby, Halloween party invitation plaque from TJMaxx.

Here's the bottom of the credenza. Both pumpkins are from Hobby Lobby. Glitter pumpkin is from Target (I think. I bought it a year or two ago). Pumpkin wallflower is from B&BW, obvs.

Flower arrangement from Target, and mercury glass skull from Michael's last year.

Glitter decor from the dollar spot at Target, candle from Hobby Lobby

Boo! and Eek! signs from Hobby Lobby. I sorta want to glitter them, too.

I'm so in love with this skeleton witch! I can't remember where I found her, but I think Hobby Lobby.

This little glitter skeleton is a little silly, but he spoke to me. I'm a sucker for glitter!

3) My newest pumpkin/fall haul!
I racked up this week!

Smells amazing!!! The pumpkin holder is new, too.

Not pictured: the already burned Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candle! I loooove those so much!

4) New fall nail polishes

OPI's I Saw... U Saw... We Saw... Warsaw

This is the nail polish I'm wearing in the above photos, and I love it so much! It has stayed on better than any non-gel nail polish I've ever tried. I'm addicted!

Sally Hansen's Wine Stock

Soooo not my pic. I left my bottle in the car, so I stole this one from imabeautygeek. Just pretend my nails are as pretty as hers.

5) Tennessee football is back!

 Go VOLS!!! Beat Georgia!!

Great win last night!!

Teagan's tough football season finally had a bright spot last night with a win over our cross county rivals! Teagan scored all 3 touchdowns, including a pick 6, and had at least 1 sack. He played an unbelievable game, and I couldn't be prouder!

After the game he was surrounded by local press. it looked like paparazzi out there! He was nervous, but handled himself very well. He told the story of why he wears number 8 to a reporter, which made my sister get all teary eyed. He wears that number because that's the same number his dad, his uncle, and his brother all wore before him. My husband wore 88 in high school and college, so I feel like it's a little bit for us, too!

I finally got a good picture of us last night!

Caroline got one, too! Ella Kate was too tired to come down to the field, so we'll have to get another one of them later.

Last night's game was sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance as a "Pink Out" game for cancer awareness. We were the away team, with white jerseys with light pink numbers. Let me tell you, those things were almost impossible to read from the stands! Every time a play happened I had to guess who it was by the position they played! Luckily, Teagan had taped his ankles, so I could follow the two white ankles on plays. Even the home team's announcer got our players names wrong because he couldn't read the number on the jerseys. I'm all for increasing the awareness of cancer and the prevention of the disease, but these jerseys are pretty awful. Hopefully, if they do this again, they outline the numbers in black, or make the numbers hot pink. Something. Anything.

Here's a quick little highlight from the local news tonight:

Now we just have to get one in the win column for Tennessee tonight! Go Vols!!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday, y'all!

Are you ready for the weekend???

My weekend will consist of lots of teenage girly screaming because of this little cutie:

I'm taking my niece and 2 of her friends to see Austin Mahone in Nashville. We got my niece meet and greet tickets, so she will get to meet him (for the 2nd time) and have her picture made with him (again). She loves Austin Mahone, but she's also starting to outgrow the hysterical craziness kind of fandom she used to have. Makes me a little sad.

I'm linking up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci for my favorites this week!

1. Surprise, surprise.

Momfessionals
My first favorite has to be all the fall B&BW scents I've been grabbing up! I devoted a whole post to it Wednesday, but I went back yesterday and loaded up on some fall body creams and shower gels, and ended up buying more hand soaps. I'm going to have the cleanest hands in the South!

2. It's football time in Tennessee!!!

My beloved Vols played an incredible game last Sunday against an expected-to-be-tough Utah State. Either I overestimated Utah or underestimated my Vols, but I was THRILLED at the end of that game!! I think this really is our year to turn things around!

Unfortunately we weren't able to go to the game, but this video was released showing a new tradition called the "Circle of Life". Just watching it gives me chills!

Here's the link. For some reason the video won't embed.

I expect another awesome game against Arkansas State this Saturday!!

It's also high school football season, and my nephew's team is struggling this year. He's playing great, but most of the rest of team are very young, and these first few games are really testing them. Tonight will be another tough game against a good school, so we just hope and pray for good sportsmanship and good health.

I'm so very proud of my nephew and the leader he is on the field and off!!

BTW- This is a pic from a couple years ago. I took one of the two of us after the first game this year, but I look hideous. Not that this one is great, but it's an improvement. I'll see if I can get good one of us, because I'm sure this will be a frequent Friday Favorite!

3. PSLs are back, baybay!!!

Need I say more??

4. More pumpkin overload.

Hope you're not getting tired of it, because I feel like I'm just warming up!!

My pumpkin spice grocery haul yesterday

The quality of these photos is astounding, huh?

5. The new Starz show, Outlander.

Is everyone else watching this? I watched the first episode and liked it so much I bought the first book. Read that (even though it's Harry Potter sized) and am halfway through the second one. There are 8 in the series, so I guess I'll be living halfway in 18th century Scotland for the foreseeable future!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
